Contains, copies of three letters, 1852-1853, written from Norfolk Island by William H. Thomas to his father, Henry Thomas, in London. The letters relate to politics and government of Norfolk Island, with some reference to the Victorian goldfields. Two of the letters have typescript copies. Also contains a typescript entitled "More light on Norfolk Island", dated 1960 May, by A. G. Rigo de Righi in which he explains the importance of the letters in terms of the history of postal services between the colonies and England during the nineteenth century.
